1 Paste your TIN

Checked as you type. Nothing is sent anywhere.

2 What this does — and doesn't

It checks the shape. Wrong prefix, a stray leading zero, a missing trailing zero, an employer number pasted into a TIN field — these are the errors that get e-Invoices rejected, and this tool catches all of them offline.

It does not look the TIN up. Confirming that a TIN actually exists and belongs to a particular person or company means asking LHDN. There is no free public route for that — LHDN's own Carian TIN on MyTax sits behind MyDigital ID identity verification, and the MyInvois API route needs registered credentials.

So: a green verdict here means correctly formed, not verified.

3 Where to find a real TIN

Your own. Log in to MyTax → Tax Information. It is also printed on the front page of your income tax return.

Someone else's, with their consent. Carian TIN on the MyTax front page, verified with MyDigital ID. LHDN restricts its use to purposes allowed under the Income Tax Act 1967.

A whole customer or supplier list. That is the MyInvois API's job, and it needs credentials issued to a registered system. Talk to us if you have a master file to clean up before you go live on e-Invoicing.

4 Result

Paste a TIN on the left and the verdict appears here.
    Try C2088005001 — a very common near-miss.

5 What the letter code means

    CodeTaxpayer
    CodeTaxpayer
E is not a TIN prefix. An E number is your employer file number (No. Majikan) for Form E, CP39 and PCB. LHDN does not accept it in the TIN field — use the entity's own TIN instead.

    6 General TINs for e-Invoicing

Placeholders for when the counterparty has no usable TIN. Never use one where you hold the real TIN.

Runs entirely in your browser — no TIN you type is transmitted, logged or stored. Format rules follow the IRBM/OECD TIN structure note (March 2023) and the MyInvois SDK FAQ. This is a formatting aid, not tax advice, and not confirmation that a TIN exists. Verify against MyTax before you rely on it.
